1. In RT2, complete the reading on page 29. Be prepared for a brief quiz about culture shock and reverse culture shock on Friday.
2. Authentic Listening/Speaking Task:
Assignment: Interview 3 people about culture shock and take notes on their responses.
Expectations:
1 – Before conducting your interview, record a list of questions to ask and think about how you will ask them. (Model/Example: Excuse me, I am a student and need to interview someone briefly about culture shock. Do you know what it is? My interview will only take a few minutes.)
2 - Interview 3 people who are not related to you or in your RLS class and have experience with culture shock. Be sure to ask them about their understanding of culture shock and any experiences they can relate, in addition to any other questions you may have.
3 - Bring to class a list of the questions you asked and notes you took on people's answers. Be prepared to discuss your experience interviewing people and what your findings were.
Hint: You can interview other non-related classmates outside 1975, your doorman/people in your building, your roommate(s), people you meet at a coffee shop or waiting for the metro/bus, etc. Try to talk to someone you don't know if possible.
