2. In the "Sensory Words" handout received in class, review the vocabulary for the five senses (sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste). In each category, pick 5 words you don't know and look them up in a dictionary and define them. Bring this to class. Also, complete the Smelling the Roses activity. (You only need to answer the 6 questions. You do NOT need to write a description yet!)

In your AW book, you need to review Ch. 1, 2, 3, and 5.

In your FEG book, you need to review Ch. 10 on the Active and Passive Voice. Also study the appendix handout combinations A-D about prepositions, the handout with prepositions of time, place and direction and all verb tense review sheets given in class.

In OMAM, you need to have finished reading Ch. 1-3.

Also, remember to be on time and bring paper and pens/pencils/erasers!

RLS Summary from Class

The article “Building Strong Relationships” is about how to have several different kinds of successful relationships. It references many sources for its research findings, including a Washington, D.C. based organization, a psychological study, and a website. First, it mentions the organization, Advocates for Youth, which cites a list of three traits that make a family happy. These traits are committing to family, appreciating each family member, and spending time with family. Second, it details a psychological study about a prenuptial survey that helps people have a successful marriage. This survey compares similarities and differences in a couple’s individual personalities in order to match the right couples. Finally, the article discusses a website one school system in California uses to give advice to teachers. This website helps teachers instruct their students how to socialize effectively with people around them by having social training included in their language arts classes. In conclusion, there are many different ways to help foster strong relationships, and this research provides some examples.
