Hmwk for MON Oct 4

ESLA WRITNG 1984

1 - Edit/revise "Smeel the Roses" writing from yesterday. Focus on having a strong topic sentence with a controlling idea, relevant and connected support sentences and using descriptive language (strong sensory words and adjectives) and correct parts of speech with simple and compound/complex sentences.

2 - If you needed to rewrite another assignment, do that as well.

Hmwk for TH Sept 30

ESLA WR 1984
1. Complete Worksheet 10, "Smell the Roses," on page 59.
2. Write a paragragh about your topic from the worksheet.
First - make sure that you a clear topic sentence w/ controlling idea.
Second - be sure to include 3 senses/sensory word groups in your description.
(Include sensory words from List 10, what we did in class).
Third - check your paragraph/make sure all sentences are relevant to the topic.

I will check your paragraph tomorrow and we will work with it in class.

2 - Find a writing (i.e. recipe, instructional manual, story) with at least 5 time signal words. Mark those 5 words and bring the writing into class.

Read Ch. 2 in TKM and write a journal entry about one of the characters you have met so far. Include a description of who they are and your opinion of them. Make a personal connection if possible.

In your writing/editing, check for:

b - Clear introductory sentence for 1st reason
w/ support sentences (examples: 1st reason)
c - Clear introductory sentence for 2nd reason
w/ support sentences (examples: 2nd reason)
d - Conclusion
e - Grammar, etc. (see Self Edit sheet)
