Thanksgiving is a meaningful holiday in my culture for several reasons. It is a day to give thanks. On this day, people interrupt their usual routine to gather with loved ones and celebrate blessings in their lives. A large meal around the table is usually involved, and many people say prayers in honor of friends and family. In addition to giving thanks, people also use Thanksgiving as a time of reflection. In America’s classrooms, children reflect on history, specifically on America’s role in the suffering of Native Americans. In the effort to make a contribution to society and the needy, there are many volunteer efforts on this day. Everyone in America celebrates Thanksgiving differently, but these are some common examples of what holds true for all America.
