ESL 51: Hmwk due M 6/6

For Monday:

1. Read both" Paying for Grades" and "Cohabitation."Then choose ONE of the articles to summarize and mark it. After reading/summarizing the article, use that summary as the introduction to a short essay response. Follow the instructions on page 39 of your course packet. Do this just like our in-class summary/response from Wednesday. This is practice for the next in-class one, so give yourself about two hours.
You will need only TWO body paragraphs.
Respond to the following: What is your opinion on the issue? Is it a good idea to reward children for doing school work? Why or why not? (OR) Is it a good idea to live together before marriage? Why or why not?

2. Work on your BIG summary response (to either "Neat People" or "How Do I Love Thee?") Fill in the checklist from page 43 of your packet. This is not due Monday but soon.

3. In Bedford, study pages 482 through 487 on paraphrasing and integrating ideas and 498 through 511.

4. Work on Reported Speech, posted under Focus on Language.
